After the index names have been removed there's no way to edit an existing index anymore (Admin -> Indexes -> ?). The link is simply not generated because the index name is empty/doesn't exist.

Are you sure you cleaned things out? I can edit Indexes fine. Sometimes GWT doesn't like the .java files that maven copies into gwt-client/target/classes.
